The Reverend Warrens E. Berger began serving Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in June, 2007. Prior to being ordained as a pastor in that month, Pastor Berger had previous careers as an automotive mechanic and in computer technology. He began studying for the Holy Ministry in 2003, earning the Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN, in May, 2007, having served his full year of internship in partial fulfillment of that degree here at Shepherd of the Hills from June, 2006, to May, 2007.
Pastor Berger is the son of a U.S. Air Force Lt. Colonel who was transferred in 1960 from serving in Norway to Travis Air Force Base in California. He attended public schools in nearby Fairfield, CA, graduating from high school in 1976. He and his wife, Joyce, married in 1984. They have two adult children, Kristina and Katherine.
As our Pastor, the Reverend Berger shares in all aspects of caring for the spiritual needs of people by preaching and teaching the Word of God, with a special focus on ministry to young people of junior and senior high school ages. Pastor Berger is extremely personable, and welcomes the chance to meet you and your family members.
